This is what i could pick up from episode one if anyone didn't get time to watch it (or couldn't bare the bad acting). Henry's appearance in the drama is almost identical to that of the account from Polydore Vergil suggesting the drama is likely to be fairly reliable. At the beginning of the episode it is made clear that before Bosworth it was not thought that Henry Tudor would win because his army was a mix of foreigners and it was thought that not many people would support Tudor as his claim was weak and through a bastard line. However Richard is killed at Bosworth when he charges at Tudor and Northumberland fails to get involved and Stanley joins Tudor. Richards naked body is then slung over a horse and Henry is crowned on the battle field when the crown of England is pulled from a thorn bush. Surviving yorkists (such as Lovel and the Stafford brothers flee from Bosworth (and later flee to sanctuary) .They believe Henry is controlled by Jasper Tudor and Oxford and that yorkists will rise up and put the Earl of Lincoln on the throne (Lincoln was declared as Richards heir after the death of his only son, Edward, prince of wales). They believe the Earl of Warwick (the son of Edward IVs sister) would not be supported as he was only nine years old. Henry is advised to travel hastily to the tower of London and his supporters worry about whether Lincoln is alive or not. Henry declares that prisoners who submit will not be harmed and he refuses to free Northumberland until he knows why he didn't help Richard III. At first Elizabeth of York does not want to marry Tudor but Tudor knows it will strengthen his claim to the throne. Henry sent Sir Robert to escort Elizabeth of York and her sister Cecily to London where they were to be held in the tower (along with the earl of warwick). Henry decided his reign started on the 21st August 1485, the day before Boswroth, so those who fought for Richard III can be declared as traitors and attained. He also sets the date for his coronation (30th October) and his first parliament (7th November). Lincoln is alive and accepts a place on Henry VIIs counsel. Henry puts off marrying Elizabeth of York for four months and rumors spread he wants a french marriage (although Elizabeth and Cecily were invited to attend the coronation). Yorkists demand he marrys Elizabeth and Tudor expalains that he was waiting for permission to marry from the pope, needed because both he and Elizabeth were descended from Edward III.At the end of the episode Henry and Elizabeth are married although she is not crowned the queen of England.

Brilliant synopsis Alice, thank you! I'm sure the rest of the team will value this! Whilst watching themselves of course! It is a very key point why Henry delays his marriage that we'll get on to! I think the acting is ok! Ha, Well done!
Look forward to seeing the rest of your little reports!
