Source C: Written by an historian in 1977. 'The era of Stresemann was the high point of the Weimar Republic. Tempers dropped, political extremism fell away. In large part this was due to the return of prosperity. Wages doubled and the standard of living was higher in 1928 than in 1913. Unemployment was generally below one million.
Source D: Written by an historian in 1991. 'Underlying economic problems remained and the political stability of Weimar's 'golden years' rested on shaky foundations. Under the surface there were many cracks that Stresemann had merely covered over.'
